Mile 91 Man Allegedly Pours Acid on Colleague in Dispute Over Woman

Acid Attack in Mile 91: Man Severely Injures Colleague Over Alleged Dispute

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, a disturbing incident occurred in Mile 91, where Gassim, a local resident, reportedly attacked his colleague, Ibrahim Conteh, by pouring acid on his face.

The two men, both employees of Miro Forestry, were allegedly involved in a dispute over a woman who also works at the company.

The attack took place in the evening, leaving Ibrahim Conteh with severe injuries. Alieu Jalloh, speaking to the News Journal Media, reported that Ibrahim was immediately rushed to CHF Hospital in Mile 91 for urgent medical treatment.

Dr. Noah, the medical superintendent at CHF Hospital, confirmed that Ibrahim's condition is critical due to the severe damage caused by the acid.

"The acid has significantly damaged his eyes, causing them to turn black. He urgently needs specialized eye care," Dr. Noah stated. He also advised Ibrahim's family to transfer him to an emergency hospital in Freetown for further treatment.

Dr. Noah emphasized the importance of immediate medical intervention, warning that without it, Ibrahim might gradually lose his sight.

Following the attack, sources indicate that Gassim has gone into hiding and is currently evading capture. This incident highlights a troubling pattern of violence related to disputes over women in the region.

Just last week, an assistant lecturer in Freetown reportedly killed his girlfriend, a fact confirmed by autopsy results. Additionally, in Kenema City, a violent altercation over a married woman resulted in the death of Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh.

As the search for Gassim continues, this case adds to the growing concern over the rise in violent acts stemming from personal disputes. The community remains on edge as law enforcement intensifies efforts to locate the suspect and bring him to justice.
