Four young men have been arrested in Moyamba District on charges of allegedly raping an 18-year-old woman named Mbalù Thullah. The suspects, identified as Samuel Taylor, Sunday Seiyah, Kinney Sevalie, and Francis Kallay, are currently in police custody as authorities investigate the incident.
The alleged assault took place in the early hours of August 16, 2024, between 2 and 3 AM in Waima Village, Kori Chiefdom.
According to Kawa, the officer in charge of the Family Support Unit (FSU) at Taiama Police Station, the suspects had traveled from Kolayhun Village to Waima Village to attend a local vigil.
It is reported that around 2 AM, the four men noticed Mbalù Thullah, who appeared to be intoxicated, and allegedly followed her to her residence, where the assault is said to have occurred.
The local community acted swiftly in response to the incident. Residents apprehended the suspects on the morning of the alleged assault and handed them over to the authorities at Taiama Police Station, where they were subsequently arrested.
