In a surprising turn of events, esteemed journalist Amadu Lambrana Bah has announced his resignation from Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media. Bah, a key figure in Sierra Leonean journalism, revealed his decision in a public statement.
"Jumuah Mubarak, everyone. This is to inform
the public that I have resigned from Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media. The
reason for my resignation is purely personal," Bah stated. He joined AYV
in 2018, where he made significant contributions to the media house. During his
tenure, he co-presented the flagship breakfast program, Wake Up Sierra Leone,
hosted the widely-followed Hot Seat program, and served in various leadership
roles including Head of Digital Media, Deputy Head of News and Current Affairs,
and ultimately, Director of News and Current Affairs.
Reflecting on his journey, Bah expressed his
gratitude for the opportunities and experiences gained at AYV. "It has
been an incredible experience, and I want to thank the CEO and President,
Anthony Navo, Jr., management and colleagues in the newsroom, and all other
departments for their support; we've achieved a lot together," he said. He
extended his thanks to everyone he collaborated with on different projects
during his time at AYV, acknowledging the collective efforts that led to their
many achievements.
Bah also expressed appreciation to his audience
and supporters. "Thanks to everyone who I have collaborated with on
different projects during my time at AYV, those who have supported me
throughout this journey, our audience who have been commending me, praying, and
advising on how to be better, and also those who have genuinely criticized what
I was doing, it has honestly made me better. I am grateful," he said.
Despite his departure from AYV, Bah reassured the
public that he will continue his work as an independent journalist.
"Please be assured that I will continue to do my work freely as an
independent journalist. Thank you all for your continued support," he
concluded.
Bah’s resignation marks the end of a significant
chapter in his career at AYV, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the
news and current affairs landscape. His departure is a notable loss for AYV but
presents new opportunities for him to continue his journalistic endeavors
independently.
Bah's contributions to Sierra Leonean journalism,
particularly through his roles at AYV, have been widely recognized and
appreciated. His work has not only informed but also engaged the public, fostering
a deeper understanding of current affairs and promoting transparency.
