APC's Mohamed Bangura Calls for Resignation of Party Leadership Over Tripartite Committee Withdrawal
Honourable Mohamed Bangura has called for the
resignation of Samura Kamara and the current leadership of the All People’s
Congress Party (APC), accusing them of failing the party, the people, and the
nation. This demand follows the APC’s last-minute withdrawal from the
tripartite committee.
Hon. Bangura criticized the APC leadership’s
decision to withdraw from the committee just three days before the announcement
of its findings and recommendations. “I call that a selfish and unpatriotic act
on the party’s behalf,” he declared.
He blamed the APC for failing to adequately
inform its membership with the correct information about the work of the
tripartite committee and allowing their supporters to believe that there would
be a re-run of the 2023 elections after the committee’s mandate.
He emphasized that the withdrawal not only fueled
existing misinformation about the committee’s report but also caused further
suffering and panic among the people and the nation. “If this decision affects
the MCC funds, let them know that over seven million Sierra Leoneans will
suffer the consequences, not President Bio,” Hon. Bangura stated.
The honorable member also admonished Samura
Matthew Wilson Kamara, the party’s former flag bearer and leader, to abandon
his relentless pursuit of political power and allow God to take charge. “If I
were Samura Kamara, I would have left everything for God to decide and allowed
peace to prevail,” Hon. Bangura advised.
He accused the APC of failing to adequately
inform its members about the tripartite committee’s work, leading supporters to
believe there would be a re-run of the 2023 elections after the committee’s
mandate. “The APC leadership has failed the people, themselves, and the nation
by not informing the people about the tripartite,” Hon. Bangura noted.
Despite his suspension from the party, Hon. Bangura remains a member of parliament. He urged the tripartite committee to release its findings and recommendations as scheduled, despite the APC’s withdrawal.
“Let the Tripartite Committee go ahead and release its report, which
they have worked on for five months,” he insisted, highlighting the need for
stability in the country amidst divided views and opinions.
Hon. Bangura concluded by reaffirming his
position: “Yes, I am a suspended member, but I’m still a parliamentarian for
the APC.”
