EDSA Announces Brief Power Supply Shutdown for Freetown Substation Upgrades

The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced planned power outages to facilitate the upgrade of the Freetown 161 Substation. These outages are essential for the extension and installation of a transfer bus for a new 40MVA transformer, aimed at improving the reliability of the power supply.

EDSA explained that the temporary outages are necessary to synchronize the new transformer with the existing network. This project is expected to enhance the stability of electricity distribution and increase the amount of power available to local communities.

“During the synchronization of the 40MVA transformer to the network distribution infrastructure, customers will experience power outages on the specified dates and times as indicated above,” EDSA stated. “After the completion of this exercise and the remaining components of the project, it will enhance the reliability of supply and also give EDSA the luxury to conveniently evacuate more power to communities.”

EDSA apologized for any inconvenience these outages may cause and assured customers that the outage schedule will be strictly followed. The authority emphasized that the upgrades are a necessary step to provide more reliable and efficient electricity service.

By completing these enhancements, EDSA aims to improve the overall power distribution infrastructure, ultimately benefiting the residents of Freetown with a more consistent electricity supply.
