FOR THE MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME (MTCP) SCHOLARSHIP 2024


 

1.  GENERAL INFO ON THE MTCP SCHOLARSHIP:

         The application for the Scholarship is open from 14 June 2024 until 14 July 2024.

         Interested applicants may apply for MTCP Scholarship through the MTCP website at https://mtcp.kln.gov.my/scholarship.

         This scholarship is open for full-time Master’s Degree only for the academic year of 2024/2025.

         The Scholarship is offered to outstanding graduates from the MTCP recipient countries as listed in Annex I.

 

 

2.  ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

   Applicants must comply with the following criteria:

a)        Not more than 45 years old at the time of application;

b)        Obtain a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours) or a minimum

CGPA of 3.5 or equivalent at the Undergraduate Degree level;

c)        Provide proof of English Language Proficiency:

  Scanned copy of the original proof of English Language Proficiency such as IELTS (minimum total score 6) or TOEFL internet-based test (minimum total score of 60); or

  Has obtained a previous degree(s) with English used as the medium of instruction.

d)       Has an excellent level of health certified by a doctor/ physician. The cost of the medical check-up shall be fully borne by the applicant. Medical report form can be downloaded from the MTCP scholarship website.

 

 

3.  APPLICATION PROCESS:

   Interested applicants may register and apply for MTCP Scholarship at https://mtcp.kln.gov.my/register_scholarship.

   The system utilised for registration shall also be used for the entire application and selection procedure. Applicants may be required to log in to the system at different stages of the process to obtain updates on the status of their application or to provide supplementary documents.

   Applicants are required to submit the following documents in the online application system (scanned and saved in PDF format) to complete their application:

1.

A certified copy of Passport as evidence of nationality (minimum of 12 months validity)

2.

A certified copy of Academic Transcript;

        Record of all the courses taken throughout the degree programme must be reflected in the academic transcripts;

        Applicants must submit transcripts of their undergraduate studies; and

        Applicants must submit an official document issued by the applicants’ alma mater describing the university’s grade system. If an applicant’s transcript does not include information on CGPA, marks or score percentile, the documents must be certified.

 

3.

A certified copy of English Language Proficiency test (TOEFL/ IELTS/ PTE/ CAE/ CPE/ MUET/ equivalent qualification) or an official letter from the previous institution declaring English as the medium of instruction used for the obtained degree(s)

List of Universities supported by the MTCP Scholarship are listed in Annex II.


4.  MTCP SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:

a)        Tuition fees for the whole sponsorship period will be paid directly to the university upon issuance of invoice by the university;

b)        Monthly allowance of RM3,500.00 per month will be paid directly to recipients Malaysian bank account; and

c)        One-off return economy class airline ticket from the student's closest international airport to Malaysia and back to the student's home country.

 

 

5.  AREAS OF STUDY:

Priority will be given to the following areas of study:

i.          Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (not including nursing, medicine, and clinical pharmacy)

 

Other areas of study:

ii.       Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries;

iii.       Economics and Finance;

iv.       Education;

v.       Environment;

vi.       International Relations and Political Science; and

vii.       Social Science and Humanities

 

 

6.  SELECTION CRITERIA:

Applications will be considered according to the following selection criteria:

i.          High-level academic and extra-curricular achievement; and

ii.          Excellent communication, writing and reading skills in the English Language.

 

 

7.  TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

i.          Recipients must undertake a full-time Master’s Degree programme in Malaysia during the period as stated in the Scholarship Offer Letter.

ii.          Recipients must not change their programme during the tenure of the scholarship except with written permission from the university and the MTCP Secretariat.

iii.          Recipients must fulfil the requirements of the study programme and abide by Malaysian laws and the university’s rules, regulations and codes of conduct.

iv.          Any suspension from the university will result in immediate suspension of the award. Monthly allowances are not payable during the suspension.

v.          It is the responsibility of successful recipients to apply and meet the requirements for the issuing of an appropriate entry visa including medical examination. The cost of the visa application shall be fully borne by the

vi.       Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress and good standing throughout the study duration as stipulated by their host university, failure to do so will result in the scholarship being withdrawn.

vii.       The scholarships are tenable in Malaysian Universities and studies must be carried out in Malaysia.

viii.       Recipients are not allowed to take any paid employment during their tenure unless with written approval from the host university and the MTCP Secretariat.
