Why President Bio dissolve the boards of directors of EGTC and EDSA

The Office of the President has announced to the public the immediate dissolution of the boards of directors of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) and the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC), two significant energy companies in Sierra Leone.

This choice is part of a larger set of tactical changes brought about by the recent resignation of Alhaji Kanja Sesay, the minister of energy.

According to the public notice issued by the Office of the President, the boards of EGTC and EDSA are dissolved with immediate effect. This action comes after the President announced that he intended to take over direct control of the Ministry of Energy upon Minister Sesay's resignation.

Following the resignation of Energy Minister Alhaji Kanja Sesay last week, the President declared that he would personally take over the Ministry. This strategic restructuring inside the Ministry of Energy appears to have directly led to the dissolution of the boards of EGTC and EDSA.

The President's resolve to enact big reforms in the energy industry is demonstrated by his decision to dissolve the boards of these two energy companies. The President hopes to improve efficiency, handle any issues facing the energy industry, and streamline operations by taking over direct control of the Ministry of Energy and commencing the dissolution of the boards of EGTC and EDSA.

A thorough reorganization of EGTC and EDSA is probably in the works as a result of the board's breakup. It is expected that there would be a renewed focus on meeting the country's energy needs and enhancing the overall performance of the energy sector with the President assuming direct leadership of the Ministry of Energy.

Further announcements about the restructuring and reform of EGTC and EDSA are anticipated as the President proceeds with his plans for the Ministry of Energy.

A new era in Sierra Leone's energy sector has begun with the dissolution of these institutions' boards, as the government works to enact reforms targeted at improving service performance and fulfilling the country's energy needs.
