Three members of the Operational Support Division (OSD) have been fired by the Sierra Leone Police for allegedly possessing kush-related substances.
The dismissals were made public on Wednesday by Chief Superintendent Franklyn Bawoh, the head of the CDIID (Complaint Discipline and Internal Investigations Department).
After a video of the first officer, PC 15808 Ibrahim Alhaji Kamara, getting shaved by young people while in uniform became popular on social media, he was detained and brought in for interrogation. On five counts of inappropriate behavior, dereliction of duty, and defying commands, he was found guilty. The final date of his dismissal was March 27, 2024.
At the Kingtom Dump Site on March 16, PC 14772 Joseph TM Contch Koroma, the second officer, was taken into custody with an alleged large amount of kush. There were three complaints against him: misconduct, duty negligence, and interference with discipline and good order. On March 26, 2024, after a hearing, he was found guilty and removed from the force.
On March 27, in Grafton Old Camp, the third officer, PC 16474 Mohamed Dumbuya, was taken into custody with a suspected amount of kush. The Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) apparently looked into him before for similar offenses.
Three counts of improper conduct, disobedience of commands, and interference with good order and discipline were brought against him. He was found guilty and fired the same day as the others.
All the three OSD Officers been dismissed by the I G,for kush, are all Northerners. Conteh, Kamara, Dumbuya.Shame on the SLPP, for preaching tribalism.
