The charges have their origins in an event that happened on June 7, 2023, in Kebbie Town, Bo. Interestingly, Alpha Sheriff was one of the inmates who had previously escaped from Pademba Road prison on November 26, 2023, but he was caught.
The legal drama began before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at Pademba Road Court No. 1, but it eventually moved to the High Court of Sierra Leone, which is presided over by Justice Adrian Fisher. Both the state attorneys and the defense attorneys made arguments during the hearings. State Counsels Ahmed James Bockarie and Amadu Jalloh represented the prosecution, while attorneys Ady McCauley and Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara stood up for the defendants.
