Agriculture Minister Highlights Feed Salone Project's Agricultural Transformation Kono District Vital to Success

In a significant revelation, Henry Musa Kpaka, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, emphasized the pivotal role of Kono District in ensuring the success of President Bio's Feed Salone project.

According to the minister, Kono District holds the key to transforming the nation's agricultural landscape and shifting the focus from diamond dependence to becoming agricultural champions.

 Minister Kpaka underscored the collective effort of the people in Kono District who are diligently working towards increasing agricultural production. The aim is to rewrite the narrative, emphasizing the transition from relying on diamonds to becoming leaders in the agricultural sector. He expressed confidence in the commitment of both stakeholders and farmers, emphasizing their readiness to contribute to the success of the Feed Salone project.

Highlighting the need for a positive narrative shift, Minister Kpaka envisioned Kono District taking the lead in the agricultural sector. He stated, "Kono is key to the success of #FeedSalone. The stakeholders and farmers are onboard. 

They told me that cash crops are the new diamond. We decided to work together to write a new script for Kono- where they are not only known for diamonds, but as the breadbasket of #SierraLeone."

The Minister shared earlier that his ministry accomplished substantial work in 2023, laying the groundwork for an aggressive takeoff in 2024. This sets the stage for the Feed Salone project to build upon the progress made and bring about a transformative impact on the agricultural landscape.

As Kono District gears up to play a crucial role in the Feed Salone initiative, the Minister's vision aligns with the broader goal of diversifying the economy and reducing dependence on traditional resources like diamonds.
